Toby Johnson signed back to the Minnesota Vikings roster
Defensive tackle Toby Johnson returns to the Minnesota Vikings 53 man main roster after being released by the team just a couple of days earlier.
The ups and downs of being a fringe roster player have to be tough on young players. For example, defensive tackle Toby Johnson has now been signed, released, and signed back to the team in a span of less than a week.
Johnson was brought in when Sharrif Floyd was placed on injured reserve, but found himself to be the one released when the Vikings activated star running back Adrian Peterson and moved him to the active roster.
Now, Johnson will get another chance as a main roster talent, as another player has been lost for the season due to injury. This time, the player going down was defensive tackle Tom Johnson. Tom had 17 combined tackles and 2 sacks before being lost to a hamstring injury.

Toby Johnson could get some opportunities for playing time in the place of Tom Johnson, which is great exposure for a young player hoping to latch on to an NFL team and make a good impression on the Vikings.
Here is what the Minnesota Vikings had to say about Toby Johnson’s return on their official website:
“Toby Johnson first joined the Vikings as a member of the practice squad leading up to the Wild Card game this past January. He spent the offseason with the club but was released during roster reductions and re-signed to the practice squad. Toby Johnson was briefly signed to the 53-man roster last week when Sharrif Floyd was placed on injured reserve but was released to make way for the activation of Adrian Peterson.”
Hopefully, Toby Johnson can stick around the Minnesota Vikings roster a little longer this time and make a mark on the team. He’s young and talented with a lot of drive, and seems like the kind of guy Mike Zimmer would love to have on his roster.
