Todd McShay's mock draft has Deshaun Watson going to the San Francisco 49ers

Todd McShay released his latest mock draft which featured several changes including Clemson’s Deshaun Watson coming off the board at pick No. 2 overall.

One of the biggest storylines of the entire offseason is going to be how the quarterback-needy teams fill the void. There’s a lot of talk about the potential trade of veterans like Jimmy Garoppolo and AJ McCarron. However, the more traditional route is adding a quarterback through the draft.

McShay has expressed that he doesn’t see a quarterback in this draft worthy of an early 1st round pick. However, he admits that someone with Deshaun Watson’s leadership and raw talent typically see a draft-day rise.

In his latest mock, he has Watson going to the San Francisco 49ers who are one of several teams that desperately need a new plan at quarterback.

The other highly touted quarterback prospects include North Carolina’s Mitch Trubisky and Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer. McShay has Trubisky going to the Cleveland Browns at pick No. 12 and Kizer falling out of the 1st round.

I tend to agree McShay that Watson’s intangibles will have a significant impact on his draft stock. He has a knack for winning football games and can lead others. The fact that he’s also a tremendous athlete and has a powerful throwing arm plays in his favor.

It’s hard for the other quarterback prospects to match Watson’s big-game experience and production. Trubisky only has 13 starts under his belt with the majority of those performances coming against questionable competition.

The odds are stacked in favor of at least 1 quarterback coming off the board within the first 10 picks.
