Tom Brady misses second straight Patriots practice with knee injury

Published Dec. 9, 2016 1:01 p.m. ET

Here's the bad news for the New England Patriots: Tom Brady missed his second consecutive practice with a knee injury ahead of Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

Here's the good news, though: Brady's injury reportedly isn't expected to keep him out in Week 12.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady did not practice Wednesday or Thursday due to a knee injury, but sources told ESPN's Mike Reiss that it should not affect Brady's availability for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.

Brady took a hit in his right quadriceps from Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor on Nov. 13 and had been getting extra treatment, but he had not appeared on the Patriots' injury report prior to Wednesday.

Brady's absence from practice was initially a mystery Wednesday; only when he was listed on New England's injury report did we learn he was limited by a knee injury.

Brady completed 24 of 40 passes for 280 yards and four TDs against the 49ers in Week 11 and was named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week. It was the 27th time in his career he's earned the honor.

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski returned to practice earlier this week despite a lung injury, but New England is reportedly preparing to play without Gronk against the 3-7 Jets at MetLife Stadium.
