Top NFL Draft prospect Sidney Jones vows to play in 2017 following Achilles surgery

Sidney Jones, former Washington cornerback and one of the top prospects in the upcoming draft class, suffered an Achilles injury at his pro day earlier this month. It came on the last drill of the day, seemingly costing himself millions of dollars as his stock figured to plummet.

That may not be the case. Jones tweeted an update Tuesday saying his doctor told him he will definitely play this upcoming season after undergoing surgery.

Jones is among the top cornerbacks in the draft and was projected to be a first-round pick. He still may go in the first 32 picks, especially with this promising update.

At Washington, Jones had eight interceptions in three seasons, as well as six forced fumbles.
