Tre Mason says he was 'in shock' when Rams drafted Todd Gurley
The St. Louis Rams made probably the most surprising pick of the 2015 NFL Draft when they selected running back Todd Gurley with the 10th overall pick.
The person maybe most surprised with the selection may have been Rams starting running back Tre Mason. Immediately after the pick, Mason sent this tweet out for the world to see.
Mason believed at the time that Gurley would be replacing him in the starting lineup.
“I was in shock, really, because I thought I did a good job last year,’’ said Mason, via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “At that time, with a pick like that, it’s a replacement."
Now that Mason has had some time to reflect on everything this offseason, he is feeling a little bit better about the backfield situation.
“At the end of the day, the goal is to win a championship, and the only way I can do that is to just keep doing me, to become the best me I can be,’’ he said. “I’ll just continue to chase greatness. That’s been the mindset since school: find the record and go out and break it.’’
