Trevor Siemian injury update: Paxton Lynch in
The Denver Broncos might be without starting quarterback Trevor Siemian for a spell, after he was slammed to the turf in Tampa Bay.
Denver is 3-0 and playing some of the best ball in the NFL, but it might have sustained a serious injury on Sunday afternoon. In the second quarter, leading 14-7, Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian was sacked for the third time in the game, being slammed down on his right shoulder. Siemian came off the field in obvious discomfort and was then carted off the field, into the locker room.
If Siemian is out for any period of time, this will be the entrance of first-round pick Paxton Lynch. Lynch came into the game to replace Siemian following his injury, and threw an incompletion deep down the middle. However, he began to move the Broncos in the two-minute drill, getting Denver over midfield.
If Lynch plays well, you would have to wonder whether Siemian ever gets his job back. The Broncos are built entirely around their defense and running game, something that got them to a Super Bowl title in 2015.
Before being injured, Siemian completed 5-of-7 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown, despite being hit repeatedly.
