Video of ex-Dolphin Konrad shortly after survival swim surfaces

Published Feb. 24, 2015 8:39 p.m. ET

Remember the story about former Miami Dolphins fullback Rob Konrad swimming nine miles after falling off his boat while fishing off the South Florida coast in early January?

Well, video has surfaced of his encounter with a police officer once he returned safely back to shore, approximately 16 hours after he fell into the Atlantic Ocean out of his 36-foot boat.

Konrad, who played six seasons for the Dolphins (1999-2004) after a college career at Syracuse, is surprised when the office tells him what time it is. Konrad fell out of his boat around 1 p.m. and reached the Palm Beach, Florida, coast between 4-4:30 a.m.

Konrad, 38, asks the officer for a phone so he can inform his "family know I'm alive."
