Vikings now have three former head coaches on staff
Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has surrounded himself with an extremely experienced staff. With the recent addition of Pat Shurmur as an unspecified offensive assistant, Zimmer now have three former head coaches helping him out.
Shurmur, offensive coordinator Norv Turner and newly hired offensive line coach Tony Sparano have each held head-coaching positions in the past.

Shurmur was the Cleveland Browns head coach from 2011-2012, posting a 9-33 record during that span. He was fired after the 2012 season and spent the past three years with the Philadelphia Eagles, serving as the team's offensive coordinator (and interim head coach for the final game of the 2015 season).
Sparano, who replaced Jeff Davidson earlier this month, was head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2008-2011. Although he led Miami to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth in his first season as the team's head coach, he was fired before the end of the 2011 season. Since then, Sparano has held different coordinator, assistant and interim roles with the New York Jets, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
Turner has by far the most head-coaching experience on the team -- even more than Zimmer. He coached the Washington Redskins (1994-2000), Oakland Raiders (2005-2006) and San Diego Chargers (2007-2012). His career record as head coach is 118-126-1, including a 4-4 record in the postseason.
With such a seasoned staff, Zimmer's Vikings should be prepared for any situation the game throws at them.
