Washington Redskins: Four Redskins Make The Pro Bowl Roster
The Washington Redskins had four players make the Pro Bowl on the NFC rosters. Ryan Kerrigan was included on the list.
The NFL announced their Pro Bowl rosters on Tuesday night. The Redskins saw four of their players make the final rosters, but the names of some of their biggest stars were left off. Kirk Cousins and Josh Norman were snubbed, but the team still saw a good amount of players make the team. Most notably, the team’s best pass rusher, Ryan Kerrigan, made the squad.
Kerrigan has been a force this year for the Redskins, and he has totaled 11 sacks. That is tied for fifth in the league. Kerrigan has an unstoppable force on the outside and his physicality, athleticism, and high motor make him one of the best outside backers in the league.
The other three Redskins to make it were on the offensive side of the ball. Two of them came from the offensive line, as Trent Williams and Brandon Scherff were both named starters for the NFC squad. Williams and Scherff were joined by a trio of Dallas Cowboys that comprised the unit made entirely of NFC East players.
For Williams, this is his fifth straight Pro-Bowl nomination. He is widely regarded to be one of the best left tackles in the league, and Von Miller recently said that he was the toughest tackle that he had ever faced. That is certainly high praise, and it is well deserved by the veteran.

Scherff’s nomination is a little bit more of a surprise. Scherff has been great in his second season, but getting the nod as the starter is huge for him. He has slowly but surely developed into one of the best guards in the league, and he definitely deserves the recognition. By next season, he and Williams could help make the Redskins unit the best in the league.
The final nomination went to Jordan Reed. There is notably a dearth of talent at the tight end position league wide, but Reed established himself as one of the best. Despite missing a few games with various injuries, he has 646 yards and five touchdowns. He has been a matchup nightmare when on the field, but that has been the major issues.
Reed will be the only nominated Redskins to be a backup. He is going to be behind Greg Olsen, who is on the verge of yet another 1,000 yard season.
At the end of the day, the Pro Bowl vote is not important. It is merely an initial popularity contest for the league. That said, the Redskins should still be proud to have four players nominated. They have some good, young talent and they could have more players in by next season. The Redskins will soon be one of the strongest teams in the league. These four players are some of their major building blocks.
