Watch Jameis Winston argue with ref, cost Bucs a chance at a TD
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got back to .500 on Sunday after beating the struggling 49ers 34-17. But the result might have been more convincing had quarterback Jameis Winston kept his emotions in check.
With Tampa Bay trailing 14-7 late in the first half, Winston completed a pass over the middle to Cameron Brate, who was marked just short of the first down to set up a fourth-and-1 at the 5-yard line.
The Bucs appeared to be in prime position to even the score, but Winston apparently was upset with the spot. He argued with referee Peter Morelli, and the Bucs quarterback was assessed an unsportsmanlike penalty, negating any chance the Bucs had to go for it on fourth down. Watch it all unfold in the video above.
The Bucs eventually settled for a field goal. Despite the untimely penalty, Winston was spectacular Sunday, completing 21 of 30 attempts for 269 yards and three touchdowns.
