WATCH: Palmer sets Cardinals' single-season touchdown record
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer broke a franchise record with his 31st touchdown pass of the season in Thursday's 23-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Palmer shattered the club's single-season mark of 30 set by Kurt Warner in 2008 when he hit wide receiver Michael Floyd on a 42-yard catch-and-run down the right sideline midway through the third quarter to help the Cardinals clinch a playoff berth.
"I think when the records start falling the season speaks for itself," Arizona coach Bruce Arians told reporters after the game. "Those were high records Kurt set and I think with three games left he's just going to set them even higher."
The 35-year-old Palmer tied Warner's record late in the first quarter when he connected with John Brown on a 65-yard strike to reach 30 scoring passes for the second time in his career. Palmer entered the contest second in the league in TD passes behind New England's Tom Brady (31).
The two touchdown passes moved Palmer past Dan Fouts and into a tie with Sonny Jurgensen for 16th on the NFL's all-time list with 255. He is one shy of his career high set in 2005 with the Cincinnati Bengals.
It was also Palmer's 10th game of the season with multiple scoring passes, tying him with Warner (twice), Neil Lomax and Charley Johnson for the most in franchise history.
Michael Floyd makes the catch. Larry Fitzgerald goes FULLBACK TRUCK STICK mode. And Carson Palmer makes history. https://t.co/E1efVqnIvf
