Welcome back: Steelers activate WR Martavis Bryant

Published Oct. 14, 2015 3:36 p.m. ET

Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant is set to make his 2015 debut this Sunday against the visiting Arizona Cardinals.

Bryant was activated to the team's 53-man roster Tuesday. He was eligible to return from his four-game suspension Monday night against the Chargers, but he reportedly tweaked his knee during practice last week.

The second-year receiver was suspended just before the start of the season for multiple failed marijuana tests. He spent three weeks working on his issues with former NBA coach and player John Lucas, who runs a treatment facility in Houston.

Bryant, who emerged as a big-play threat as a rookie last season with eight touchdowns in 10 games, should immediately help a Steelers offense that hasn't been the same with Michael Vick under center for the last two-plus games. Ben Roethlisberger has been out with a knee injury, but he plans on working out in 7-on-7 drills in practice Wednesday with the outside shot of returning to start Sunday against Arizona.

Safety Ross Ventrone was released in order to clear a roster spot for Bryant.
