Did NFL referee Ed Hochuli tell Cam Newton he's too young to get a personal foul call on Sunday?
FOX Sports rules analyst Mike Pereira, appearing on "The Herd," said there is no way the veteran ref would ever say that.
"(Hochuli) did not say that. I would love for Cam Newton or the Carolina Panthers to hire a professional lip reader," Pereira explained.
So what did Hochuli say? "You are a runner, you don't get that call when you're a runner," Pereira said, adding that "no official in the NFL is stupid enough to make a comment like that."
Hochuli has been an NFL official since 1990, and worked with Pereira, the former head of NFL officiating, for a number of years.
"(Hochuli's) a quality guy and when Cam says this it challenges (Hochuli's) integrity," Pereira said. "I resent it. I don't think it's fair."
