When is Super Bowl 52?
When and where is Super Bowl 52?
Even though the NFL season has just come to an end, it’s time to talk about the date and location for Super Bowl 52. The 52nd Super Bowl will be held on February 4, 2018, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. U.S. Bank Stadium will host its first championship game and Minneapolis will host it for the first time since 1992.
Minnesota will get a second chance after Super Bowl 26 didn’t go well. To be fair, it wasn’t their fault. If you want to blame someone, blame the horrible halftime show. However, the terrible entertainment, combined with Fox airing In Living Color during it, led to the NFL ensuring future halftime shows would feature top entertainers.
Minneapolis is a solid choice to host the Super Bowl, as it is the 16th largest metropolitan area in the United States. It is also the 46th largest city in America. Minneapolis is also the second largest city in the Midwest, trailing only Chicago. This is a great opportunity for the NFL to show off one of its newest stadiums. Also, it brings the Super Bowl back to an often overlooked market.
It’s a welcome change from the usual rotation of host cities. Because U.S. Bank Stadium is an indoor venue, weather shouldn’t be an issue. No word yet on who the halftime show will feature, but don’t rule anyone out. The NFL goes out of its way to make sure the top performers in the world are a part of it.
Should the Minnesota Vikings play in it, it would be the first time a city has hosted a Super Bowl with its team in it. Minneapolis was confirmed as the host site for the 2018 event back in 2013. San Francisco was another city listed as a finalist.
