Who is Jacoby Brissett?

The New England Patriots turned to third-string quarterback Jacoby Brissett in Week 2, and you shouldn’t feel bad about not knowing who he is.

Things looked like they were going well for the new England Patriots. Jimmy Garoppolo was slinging it in the first two weeks of the season and there was a quarterback controversy brewing in Foxborough.

All of that changed when Garoppolo went down with a shoulder injury — one that looked pretty bad. That meant without Tom Brady and without Jimmy G, it was time to turn to the third-string quarterback. Who is the third-string quarterback? You can’t be blamed for not knowing, as not many knew about jimmy G until he was thrust into the spotlight this summer.

Rookie Jacoby Brissett is the third-stringer and he’s going to be taking on a role that is going to make him a name that everyone will want to know. If Jimmy Garoppolo is out for the last two games of Brady’s suspension.

So who exactly is Jacoby Brissett?

The real thing to ponder here is what would have happened if the Patriots wouldn’t have taken Brissett in the third-round? There was a guy named Dak Prescott who has been lighting it up for the Cowboys that New England might have wanted to have in this scenario.

No matter what Brissett ends up doing — if he’s the starter for the last two games of the Brady suspension –this isn’t a long-term issue for the Patriots. Brady will be back after Week 4 and things will get back to the way they were.

It almost seems as though the Patriots are coasting in the first two weeks of the season. Brady is out and Rob Gronkowski has yet to make his 2016 debut. So while this is usually a bad thing for a team, turning to their third-string quarterback is amino hiccup for New England.
