Willie Snead Throws 50-Yard Touchdown Pass on Saints Trick Play (Video)
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Willie Snead tossed a 50-yard touchdown pass on an absolutely perfectly run trick play.
Early in the fourth quarter of their Week 12 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, the outcome for the New Orleans Saints wasn’t really in doubt. Though Jared Goff had shown flashes, Drew Brees had shown much more as the home Saints had amassed a 42-21 lead. Even having doubled LA’s score, though, the Saints weren’t about to let up. In fact, that just meant it was time to get a little bit tricky.
With the ball at midfield, you know that Brees and New Orleans are always liable to go deep and take a shot at the end zone. However, this time around it wasn’t Brees going deep with the throw. Instead, it was one of his best deep threats, wide receiver Willie Snead, making the toss.
Brees threw a quick screen to his left to Snead behind the line of scrimmage. the Ball State product then kicked the ball back inside and pulled up with his arm cocked and ready. On the far side of the field, the Rams had no one covering running back Tim Hightower. Snead let loose a beautiful, lofted pass right to the back. Hightower then finished it off for the 50-yard touchdown off of the trick play:

Can the Rams institute a mercy rule in the fourth quarter? They might want to if the Saints are pulling this out of their hats when they were already up by three scores.
Whenever this Saints offense is clicking, especially in the dome, it’s a thing of beauty to watch. Everyone is so in-sync and plays like this go to show just that. You can’t rely on your wideout to make a long pass across the field if everyone isn’t wholly on the same page. And they executed the trick play to perfection for the score.
