Agent on Kane: 'I do believe he's innocent of this whole thing'
Patrick Kane's agent says he believes that the Chicago Blackhawks superstar forward is innocent of the sexual assault allegations levied against him.
"Patrick's always been honest with me and I do believe what he tells me. At the same time, I believe he's innocent of this whole thing," agent Pat Brisson told Sportsnet on Tuesday. "... The hardest part is to see people jumping to conclusions that he's done this or done that ... and I just can't wait for him to get back on track with his life."
The grand jury hearing into the allegations was reportedly postponed on Tuesday for two weeks. Kane, who has not been charged with a crime, is being investigated after a woman reportedly accused him of sexually assaulting her at his home last month in Hamburg, N.Y.
Signed to an eight-year, $84 million contract extension that begins at the start of the upcoming season, Kane collected 27 goals and 37 assists in 61 games with Chicago in 2014-15. The 2013 Conn Smythe Trophy winner added 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in as many playoff contests to help the Blackhawks secure their third Stanley Cup title in six seasons by besting the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.
Chicago begins its training camp for the upcoming season on Sept. 18.
