The Arizona Coyotes and New York Rangers Made Quite the Splash on Draft Day Sending Raanta and Stepan to Arizona for a Draft Pick and Anthony DeAngelo.

The Arizona Coyotes are slowly becoming one of my favorite U.S. teams, the club is extremely young and they keep adding in key pieces to help them thrive, it's great if you are an Arizona fan. And on draft day they didn't stop there. They sent young defenseman Anthony DeAngelo and their seventh overall pick in the first round to the New York Rangers for center Derek Stepan and goaltender Antti Raanta.

Stepan had himself a decent season last year putting up 55 points in 81 games, and in 515 career games with the Rangers, Stepan has put up 360 points. Raanta originally was a piece of the Blackhawks before joining the Rangers and in 94 career NHL games, Raanta has posted a 47-23-9 record with a 2.33 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.

DeAngelo burst onto the scene last season with Arizona scoring some clutch goals and going on quite the hot streak before cooling down. In 39 NHL games, DeAngelo has managed 13 points and 37 penalty minutes.

Originally drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft, Stepan has spent his entire career with the Rangers and could very well be the new number one center in Arizona. Antti Raanta went undrafted but that didn't stop him from making his way into the NHL and becoming a very reliable goaltender.

As for DeAngelo, the 21-year-old was a first round draft choice by the Tampa Bay Lightning selected 19th overall in 2014 and was traded to Arizona last season.
