The Arizona Coyotes AHL affiliate Tucson Roadrunners revealed their inaugural jerseys today and they are sharp.

If you’re a fan of the Arizona Coyotes, everything about the Tucson Roadrunners has to have you excited.

The AHL affiliate is a fairly reasonable drive down I-10. There’s more professional hockey to watch in the desert.

Their roster will be stocked full of promising Yotes prospects.

Oh, and their new jerseys are pretty damn sharp.

For a team that took on a Roadrunners name that has it’s own history, they took the approach to a new look in stride and the results are great.

From the beginning of the rumors that the Arizona Coyotes were looking to purchase and move the Springfield Falcons, fans clamored for the Roadrunners name to return to professional hockey in Arizona.

IceArizona obliged and brought back an old favorite to a new location.

An article on this site discussed how awesome it would be to see the Carolina blue uniforms return.

At the time I wrote, “It’ll be interesting to see if the Coyotes ownership maintain the same, rather elegant Carolina blue, gold, black and white color scheme. The Roadrunners jerseys were lookers in their own right, so it’d be a shame if they went with the red and black of the Coyotes.”

After seeing the jerseys in the flesh, however, it’s no shame.

    I was wrong.

The marketing and design teams for the Coyotes and Roadrunners franchises’ did a tremendous job.

All that’s left now is to see how the team plays on the ice at Tucson Convention Center.

The Roadrunners roster is bolstered by some high-end talent including Conor Garland, Christian Fischer, Anthony DeAngelo, Brendan Perlini, Ryan MacInnis, and Michael Bunting. There’s an outside chance they could also ice Christian Dvorak and Laurent Dauphin, if the two are dropped in the Arizona Coyotes’ final roster cuts on Tuesday.

There should be a lot of goals scored by the young guns in Tucson, and they’ll be playing in front of a pretty strong goaltending tandem in Justin Peters and Adin Hill.

Hill continues to rise up the charts among Coyotes’ prospects with his performance in rookie camp and in exhibition with the Roadrunners.

Desert hockey is alive and well, and it’s only getting better.

You can check out the Roadrunners at the Tucson Convention Center when they open their inaugural season on October 28th against the Stockton Heat.
