Arizona Coyotes Offer Zach Boychuk PTO

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Arizona Coyotes have inked forward Zach Boychuk to a PTO ahead of training camp opening on September 22nd.

There will be another player attending Arizona Coyotes training camp this preseason.

In a surprising move, Zach Boychuk has been signed to a PTO (professional try-out) by General Manager John Chayka.

Boychuk last played for the Carolina Hurricanes in 2014-15.

The forward has bounced around the league and the AHL a bit since being the 14th overall pick in 2008.

Zach Boychuk has played just 127 games across seven NHL seasons. He’s scored 12 goals and added 18 assists for 30 points in his career thus far.

Boychuk spent last season in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers and then the Bakersfield Condors.

The 26-year-old forward is looking to get his career back on track in the desert, but he’ll face some stiff competition with a few other highly drafted prospects.

It’s pretty hard to see Boychuk cracking the lineup over the likes of Dylan Strome or Christian Dvorak, but more competition is always a good thing.
