Blackhawks chairman Wirtz brings Stanley Cup to Northwestern
Chicago Blackhawks chairman Rocky Wirtz brought his winning touch to Ryan Field on Saturday.
A graduate from Northwestern in 1975, Wirtz didn't return empty-handed as he brought the Stanley Cup to his alma mater on Saturday prior to the Wildcats' football game against Eastern Illinois.
It was the second visit to Ryan Field for the Stanley Cup, as the Blackhawks' brass had it in tow after Chicago defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in 2010 for the team's first title since 1961.
On Saturday, Wirtz was joined by team president John McDonough and executive vice president Jay Blunk to serve as honorary captains for the opening coin toss.
Wirtz's winning ways continued as Northwestern breezed to a 41-0 victory.
