Blackhawks' Darling: 'Goalies will adapt' if NHL expands size of goal

Chicago Blackhawks backup goaltender Scott Darling isn't too worried if the NHL elects to increase the size of the net.

After all, Darling told reporters that he feels "goalies will adapt and figure out new ways to stop the puck."

Perhaps the 26-year-old Darling considered the worst-case scenario before offering the following:

"I mean, if they put a soccer net out there, yeah probably (scoring would increase)," the 6-foot-6, 232-pound Darling said. "If they make it two inches bigger, I don't really think that will have too much of an effect."

Darling insisted that he understood the entertainment value of having more offense in the league, although - not surprisingly - admitted he wasn't a fan.

Darling has posted a 1-2-0 mark with a 3.11 goals-against average and .885 save percentage this season. The limited work comes on the heels of his 9-4-0 record with a 1.95 GAA and .936 save percentage in 2014-15.
