Blackhawks GM Bowman signs three-year contract extension
The Chicago Blackhawks locked up another key piece to the puzzle on Tuesday by extending the contract of general manager Stan Bowman for three years, the team announced.
Financial terms were not disclosed of the contract that carries Bowman through the 2020-21 season. The deal comes two weeks after the Blackhawks extended the contract of coach Joel Quenneville for another three years as well.

President and Chief Executive Officer John McDonaugh said in a statement that he has been pleased with the returns of Bowman. Via ChicagoBlackhawks.com:
"I am proud of how much Stan and his staff have accomplished and have great confidence in his leadership as our organization continues to strive for consistent excellence. Under Stan's guidance, our Hockey Operations Department is strong across all levels, including scouting, player evaluation and development, and salary cap management. He has created a sound structure that Blackhawks fans can be excited about for many years to come."
Bowman became the first general manager to win three Stanley Cups in the salary cap era. With Patrick Kane and captain Jonathan Toews at the helm, Chicago ended a 49-year title drought by besting the Philadelphia Flyers in 2010 before defeating the Boston Bruins three years later and the Tampa Bay Lightning last summer.
The Western Conference-leading Blackhawks (33-15-4) are in prime position to contend for another championship, with a franchise-best 12-game winning streak not too far removed in their rear-view mirror.
Chicago will vie for its second straight win on Tuesday when it visits the Carolina Hurricanes (22-20-8).
