Blackhawks' Quenneville: 'That's as ugly as I've ever seen us play'
Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville wasn't too impressed with his team's play during the first period of Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Central Division-rival Nashville Predators.
In fact, Quenneville was fairly blunt in telling reporters just how bad it was.
Scott Darling faced 18 shots in the first period - including 10 before captain Jonathan Toews registered Chicago's first opportunity on Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne. James Neal, Craig Smith and Filip Forsberg solved Darling to give Nashville a quick 3-0 lead after 20 minutes.
"That was an ugly start. They blitzed us right off the bat and we didn't have a response to it. Maybe woke up in the second period, but that was hard to watch, that first 20 minutes. That's as ugly as I’ve ever seen us play."
Patrick Kane provided the lone bright spot by scoring the Blackhawks' lone goal to extend his franchise-best point streak to 24 games.
