A pair of Central Division contenders will meet for an early season clash when the Chicago Blackhawks visit the Nashville Predators on Friday evening at Bridgestone Arena.
Chicago will be playing its second game of the season after losing 5-2 to the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. The Blackhawks led 1-0 through the end of one before surrendering three Power Play goals to the Blues. St. Louis added a pair of empty net goals to make the scoreline seem a little worse than it really was, but Chicago will be disappointing with the result at home.
Richard Panik and Ryan Hartman had the goals for the Blackhawks in the opener. Patrick Kane will look to get on the board after leading the NHL with 106 points a year ago, earning him the Hart Trophy.
The Predators will be in action for the first time in 2016 in front of what should be an electric crowd at Bridgestone Arena. Nashville finished with 96 points a year ago and beat the Anaheim Ducks in the playoffs before losing in seven games to the Western Conference champion San Jose Sharks in the second round.
New acquisition P.K. Subban should be thrilling to watch in head coach Peter Laviolette’s system after coming over in an offseason trade with the Montreal Canadiens. With Mattias Ekholm and Roman Josi also in the fold, Nashville could have the most dynamic group of defensemen in the NHL this season.
The two teams will turn right around and play on Saturday night in Chicago. Friday night’s game is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on NBC Sports Network, with full streaming details available below.
