On Sunday Nov. 20, the Washington Capitals (11-4-2) will host the Columbus Blue Jackets (9-4-2) at the Verizon Center for a 12:30 p.m. matinee. This game will be shown on Sportsnet, CSN-DC, and Fox Sports Ohio.
Washington enters Sunday’s game after a 1-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday. They will be a bit shorthanded, as star forward T.J. Oshie is out and listed as week to week. It remains to be seen if they will have Lars Eller, who’s day to day. Both players got injured on Friday. On Tuesday, the Caps lost to the Blue Jackets in overtime in Columbus. They will be looking to return the favor on Sunday. Alex Ovechkin leads the team on offense. Nicklas Backstrom has also been a key part to their scoring. Braden Holtby has been excellent in net for Washington and should be getting the start on Sunday. The Capitals have a 6-2-0 record at home this season.
On the other side of the ice, the Blue Jackets have a franchise record seven game win streak at home after beating the New York Rangers on Friday. They have a 2-2-2 record on the road this season. So far, Sergei Bobrovsky has been phenomenal for them as their goaltender. Nick Foligno has bounced back from a rough year and is having a great one. Rookie defenseman Zach Werenski has been a spark plug for their power play.
