Blues' Stastny out for at least five weeks with a broken foot

Paul Stastny's plan to enjoy a better second season with the St. Louis Blues this year has hit a major speed bump. The team announced Wednesday that Stastny was placed on injured reserve with a broken right foot and will be re-evaluated in five weeks.

Stastny suffered the injury while blocking a shot in the second period of a 4-3 win over Vancouver on Oct. 16.

The forward is familiar to the bothersome world of an early-season injury, as he missed eight games early last season with a shoulder injury. Five weeks (at the very least) is substantially more time missed, however.

Stastny has five points (one goal, four assists) through five games this season. He is tied for the team lead in plus-minus with a plus-4 rating.
