Bruins trade long-time forward Lucic to Kings
Big, bad Milan Lucic is now a member of the Los Angeles Kings.
The former Boston Bruin was traded to Los Angeles on Friday in exchange for goaltender Martin Jones, prospect Colin Miller and the 13th overall pick, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
The Bruins will retain $2.75 million of Lucic's contract, which ends after the 2015-16 season. The trade came after the Bruins dealt defenseman Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames and re-signed defenseman Adam McQuaid. By virtue of Boston's multiple trades, it will have the No. 13, No. 14 and No. 15 overall picks in the first round of the draft.
Lucic recorded 18 goals and 26 assists in 81 games for the Bruins last season. He was drafted by the Bruins in the second round of the 2006 Draft and has played his entire career in Boston.
Lucic said he followed the way the trade came together the same way most NHL fans do, but the Bruins did call him before pulling the trigger on the trade.
