Buffalo Sabres Game Day + Fan Chatter: Sabres Streaking To Carolina

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 3:24 p.m. ET

The Buffalo Sabres are starting to resemble a healthy team again.  Can they extend their winning streak on the road against the mildly-surprising Hurricanes?

With last night’s dramatic, come-from-behind overtime win against the New York Islanders, the Buffalo Sabres managed to accomplish a few noteworthy, uh, accomplishments!

1. The Sabres finished a four-game homestand 3-1-0, making them 6-2-1 in their last 9 home games and giving them a home record of 7-6-3 on the season.

2. The win gives the Sabres a nice little two-game winning streak heading into night’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.  Not a huge deal, but winning!

3. Most importantly, the two points Buffalo secured last night gives them 30 points after 29 games.  When was the last time Buffalo had a better-than-.500 points percentage in December?  Can’t remember – I bet it’s been a while.  And if Buffalo can somehow get a win tonight, they will be sitting at 32 points, which should be good enough to crack the NHL’s top-20.

Little victories, I know, but it seems like we are finally seeing what a healthy 2016-17 Buffalo Sabres team can do.  It’s nice, for a change!

And now, here’s the Fan Chatter portion of this post!

1. Pick four players in tonight’s game that you feel might score the game’s first goal.  15 pts. for nailing it.

2. Will Zach Bogosian earn a point of he plays tonight?  (5 pts.) Substitute Rasmus Ristolainen if for some reason Bogo is a no-go (see what I did there?).

3. Here’s an over/under question: Buffalo’s goaltender will post a save percentage of .935.  (5 pts.)

4. What will the combined score of tonight’s game be?  (7 pts. to closest)

5. Pick the winner of tonight’s game!  (10 pts.)

The puck drops around 7 p.m. Eastern tonight.  Make your picks, settle in on a true winter evening, and let’s see if the Buffalo Sabres can keep movin’ on up in the standings!
