Canadiens have chance to make history
In the entire history of the Montreal Canadiens franchise, the Habs have won their first four games of the season in four different campaigns: 1955-56, 1970-71, 1977-78 and 2015-16.
No Canadiens team has ever won its first five games of the season, but his year's edition of the Canadiens has a chance to do just that against the New York Rangers.
The Rangers are no simple foe. They themselves are off to a 3-1-0 start. But the Canadiens boast the best record in all of hockey. They already have 14 goals on the year, good for fourth in the league, and the duo of Carey Price and Mike Condon have only allowed six total goals, the seventh-fewest in the league.
The Canadiens are off to a great start, but they don't want to get too far ahead of themselves. Sure, they are in the same company as just three Habs teams of the past, but those three teams all share another quality in common: They all won the Stanley Cup.
"You've got to be really humble about success and understand it's a battle every night," Michel Therrien told Apron Basu. "It's good for the confidence, but we have to stay really humble."
It's impossible to tell if this Canadiens team is actually in the same company as those three other teams, but, nonetheless, the start is awfully exciting for the bleu, blanc et rouge.
