Capitals' red-hot Holtby finds flaw: 'My rebound control wasn't very good'
Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby's standards must be incredibly high if the order of the day was nitpicking the latest performance of his stellar run.
Holtby turned aside a season-high 44 shots on Monday as the Capitals cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Metropolitan Division-rival Pittsburgh Penguins. Despite the desired result, the 26-year-old Saskatchewan native told the Washington Post that he still found fault with his performance.
Don't be so hard on yourself, Braden. After all, you must be doing something right to post an 11-0-1 mark in your last 12 outings while also leading the league in wins (19) and goals-against average (1.87).
Holtby (19-4-1) owns a 1.75 goals-against average and .944 save percentage in his last 12 contests.
"My rebound control wasn’t very good tonight. That’s a thing you can’t get away with for very long. I got away with it tonight, but in the future, that’s something I’m going to have to make sure is better."
