Another week in the books means another batch of Carolina Hurricanes stories delivered to your doorstep

Okay, the Carolina Hurricanes after a rousing come from behind win against the Florida Panthers went out and lost the next three games on the road.  And also there was this great advertisement for Taxi Taxi.

Despite the Canes awful record on this road trip, there is no denying that they outplayed both New York and Boston.  Well at least until the third period started.  The Hurricanes entered each third period either with the lead or tied yet was unable to come away with a win in every one.  It was an

all too familiar story.  I hear Francis is busy lobbying the NHL to shorten the game to two periods from three.  Still, until that happens, try and forget about everything by reading these great links we compiled for you.  Also in Cardiac Cane news we’d like to welcome our new writer Chris Miracle to the team.  You can read his first article for us here.

The News and Observer reports that the Carolina Hurricanes will stop reporting certain types of revenue in their financial statements to their leaseholder.  On the surface, it doesn’t sound too bad, but given the swirling of relocation and for sale rumors, it certainly presents some poor optics.  I’m no financial expert, but the article basically states that the Hurricanes will no longer report on their revenue they receive from the NHL and their tv contracts.

Sebastian Aho received some national press from Daniel Friedman over at Sports Illustrated.  The kid is only 19 years old and has 11 points in 23 games.  He’s going to be a large part of the Hurricanes future and highlights the fact that half of the Canes top six is 22 or under and two-thirds 25 and under.  The future is bright even though it seems really dark right now.

Cory Fogg over at Canes and Coffee wrote a report on the Hurricanes start and their playoff chances.  He also breaks down a few trades that could help the Hurricanes make a playoff push this season and what it would take to get those players and recommends Jaroslav Halak as one of those players.  I think I recall someone making that argument a while ago, but I can’t quite remember who.

Next is an article over at Hockey Graphs that details two metrics that most playoff teams are consistently the leaders in.  It’s a real heavy stat article so if you’re not into that thing you might not enjoy it, but it details how teams that lead in xGF% and CF% almost always make the playoffs.  And guess what the Canes are at the top of the league in both stats.  Yes Lloyd Christmas I’m saying there is a chance
