Check out James Reimer's flashy new mask (PHOTO)
James Reimer of the Toronto Maple Leafs boasts the nickname "Optimus Reim", so it's only natural that he went with an Optimus Prime design for his newest mask. Goalie mask artist Dave Gunnarsson, the man behind most of the lid designs in the NHL, debuted photos of the new mask on Facebook.
The mask has Optimus Prime, a character from the Transformers franchise, featured on one side and the old-style maple leaf on the other to give the mask an old-school feel.
It could be a while before Reimer actually wears the mask in a game, however, as the goalie is currently sidelined by a groin injury. He missed time at the end of November with the injury, then appeared to return too soon as he re-aggravated the injury in his return to the crease on Dec. 3. Reimer is 7-4-4 on the season with a .935 save percentage.
