Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links- Jonathan Toews Adding To The Resume
Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The World Cup of hockey came to a close last night when Team Canada scored twice in the third period to win the game and the tournament. Jonathan Toews set up the game winner which was a short handed-goal.
The Chicago Blackhawks Captain has had a pretty nice career that’s for sure, and when you pull his name up in say Wikipedia just his medals for Team Canada are impressive.
Toews has won 2 gold medals in World Juniors, he won a gold and a silver medal at the World Championships, he’s won 2 gold medals at the Olympics, and last night he won his first World Cup of Hockey. Toews had a good tournament but will be overshadowed by the dominance of the Sidney Crosby–Brad Marchand–Patrice Bergeron line.
Toews though did set up the game winner, on the penalty kill of all things, when he dropped the puck off to Marchand who made a great play to score the game winner.
You can look up all the things that Toews has done, and it really is a super career with lots more to come, but the thing as a Chicago Blackhawks fan that is most remarkable was the night in Philly when he hoisted the Stanley Cup for the team for the first time in 49 years!
Jonathan Toews is a winner, and because of that no matter what issues the Chicago Blackhawks have on their bottom six forwards or how many young players are on the roster this season, you know that Toews will lead the team into the Stanley Cup Playoffs once again where anything can happen.
As Chicago Blackhawks fans, we should thank our lucky stars that Toews is our Captain everyday!
