Colorado Avalanche Players who Need to Step Up
Core Colorado Avalanche players need to show why they’re considered the core. They need to have strong seasons.
The 2016-2017 season is approaching in less than a month. The Colorado Avalanche need to step up. There are core players who need to kick up their game.
Gabriel Landeskog is a captain and looked at as a leader. Even though he has had some good seasons statistically, there is potential for more. Landeskog looks to contribute more and grow his offense.
He is player who can score goals while defending the puck, a very talented player with natural leadership skills. Experience is on his side , time to help younger players get better. The Avalanche hope this is his break out year. They need him to keep getting better and contribute.
Tyson Barrie the last two seasons has shown signs of being an elite NHL player. Like Landeskog he can contribute in many ways. Barrie looks to break out and take advantage of his potential and talent. There is a lot to like about him , can play offense and defense. We have seen him have success on the blue-line. But he can play wing also which is where we may see him.
Barrie can be a leader for young players. He will be looked at to continue what he has done the last two seasons. If moved to wing maybe looked to contribute more points to help the team win more games.
Nathan Mackinnon is a naturally gifted young player.The Avalanche hope he can have a healthy season. Last two season the injuries have hindered his season. he has shown that he can score a lot of goals and contribute. If he can put up some big numbers and stay healthy that would help the team succeed.
Another player who looks to step up is Calvin Pickard. Pickard showed last season that he can be an NHL goalie. Pickard helped Colorado stay in it with his play . He is turning into a goalie who is worthy of being the starter. If he keeps growing there is a chance of success.
If these core players have strong seasons, the Colorado Avalanche have a good chance of a successful season. We have been waiting on them for a while, in some cases.
