Connor McDavid scores incredible goal with defender on his back (Video)
Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers scored an incredible goal with the defender on his back Friday night.
Connor McDavid is the best young player in the NHL, there is no arguing that. Friday night, McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers were in Carolina to play the Hurricanes. Part of the way through the second period, with the Hurricanes leading 1-0, McDavid tied the game with another highlight reel goal with a defender on top of him.
The Oilers center came streaking in towards the goal with two Hurricanes defenders trailing him. As McDavid got to the hash marks, back checking Hurricanes’ center Elias Lindholm hooked him.
As Lindholm was bringing McDavid down to the ice, the center was able to backhand the puck into the top of the net. As the shot went past Carolina goalie Cam Ward, both Lindholm and McDavid went crashing into the net. To add insult to injury, Lindholm went face-first into the post.

Oscar Klefbom and Adam Larsson picked up assists on the McDavid goal. The goal was McDavid’s 18th of the season. McDavid now has 60 points in 54 games for the Oilers this season.
The Oilers are 27-18-8 this year, good enough for third in the Pacific division. The Oilers are looking to snap their 10-season playoff drought. The Oilers last made the playoffs in 2006, when the team went on a Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Final. However, the Oilers lost to the Hurricanes in seven games.
When the Oilers made their Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2006, McDavid was just nine years old. The Carolina Hurricanes have struggled in the decade since winning the Stanley Cup. The Hurricanes will likely miss the playoffs again this season. The Hurricanes have missed the playoffs seven straight seasons. The Hurricanes currently sit 12th in the Eastern Conference.
