Corey Perry likes to steal other players' sticks
On Wednesday night in Anaheim, Corey Perry was caught on camera stealing Hurricanes defenseman Ron Hainsey’s stick after he had broken his own in front of the Carolina net.

As luck would have it, it’s not the first time the Anaheim Ducks power forward has been caught in the act, and it’s most likely not the last time. As a player who revels on getting under the skin of his opponents, Perry has committed the larcenous now twice against the Hurricanes, grabbing ahold of Alex Semin’s stick from the bench back in 2013:
Of course, not all of Perry’s capers have gone according to plan, as he found out with Marian Hossa in 2015. The Blackhawks forward wasn’t so much into playing that kind of game with Perry.
While Perry is a stick-stealing agitator extraordinaire, he’s got some work to do to match former teammate Bobby Ryan’s feat. Ryan, having his stick stolen by Minnesota’s Mikko Koivu during a 2010 game, picked up Koivu’s and then scored with it. Adding to the difficulty, Ryan is a righty while Koivu is a southpaw, and the Wild forward had the evidence help up for him to see.
On Wednesday, Perry and the Ducks got the last laugh, as he potted the game-tying goal against the Hurricanes—his first tally in 19 games—in a 6–5 shootout win.
