Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon have been extremely generous with their time during their return home to Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

On Wednesday, Crosby and MacKinnon were also generous with their wallets after they donated their shares from helping Canada win the 2015 IIHF World Championship to the young hockey organization in Cole Harbour.

"Obviously, this is where Nate and I started, so to have the opportunity to give back and ... to be able to have it go directly to the minor hockey associations that we were a part of means a lot to us," Crosby said, according to The Chronicle Herald.

"I'm sure it'll go a long way, so we certainly appreciate (Hockey Canada president and CEO Tom Renney) taking the time to come here and share his experience and wisdom with people here, and educate them."

While the amount of each check was not disclosed, there's no denying the generosity of both Crosby and MacKinnon during their last few weeks in the Canadian maritime.

The two made time to spend a portion of an afternoon with Bryan Carroll, a 7-year-old Dartmouth boy who is battling leukemia, before taking part in the first annual Sidney Crosby Hockey School, a camp for approximately 160 boys and girls ages 8-12.
