Crosby on Kessel addition: 'We're happy to have him'

Sidney Crosby has been the leader of the Pittsburgh offense ever since he was drafted No. 1 overall by the Penguins in 2005, and next season, he will have even more help up front after former Maple Leaf Phil Kessel was traded to the Penguins on July 1.

The 27-year-old Kessel did not have the best reputation off the ice during his time in Toronto, but his results on the ice speak volumes about his ability. Kessel is a five-time 60-point scorer and two-time 80-point scorer.

So it is not surprising that Crosby seemed excited about the new addition to the Pittsburgh offense when he spoke with TSN Thursday.

"It’s a nice addition to our team," Crosby told TSN. "Obviously he’s a great scorer, brings a lot, and offensively he’s going to help any team so we’re happy to have him. From talking to him, he seems like he’s excited. I think it’ll be something everybody is looking forward to this season."

Crosby, a center, could be spending a lot of time next season with Kessel on his wing. The Penguins could also use Kessel on a different line with the always-dangerous Evgeni Malkin as Kessel's center. Either way, it seems like the Penguins have the potential to put up a ton of points next season.
