Detroit's Gustav Nyquist earned himself a double-minor penalty in the first period of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Wild after wildly jabbing his stick in the face of Jared Spurgeon.
Spurgeon checked Nyquist from behind, and Nyquist retaliated by turning around and hitting Spurgeon in the face in a sickening play. Nyquist remained in the game, however, and later assisted on Anthony Mantha's goal in the second period.
It is highly likely Nyquist will be facing a suspension after the Department of Player Safety reviews the incident.
