ECHL player burns love letters, calls 911 to put out fire
Love burned out of control for Florida Everblades defenseman Justin Agosta.
Agosta is facing charges of second-degree arson after the fire he set to burn love letters from his girlfriend caused damage to the front of his apartment building, according to the Naples News.
The 25-year-old told firefighters that he purchased gasoline to douse the letters, but was unable to extinguish the flames with water and a towel before electing to dial 911.
Agosta, who was arrested on Dec. 30, is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 1.
In the interim, Agosta has continued to compete for the ECHL club. The former Quinnipiac player has collected eight goals and as many assists in 23 games for the Everblades.
Agosta also had a brief stint with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League earlier this season. The Checkers are the minor-league affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.
