Edmonton Oilers: Connor McDavid Leading All-Star Voting
After a week of NHL All-Star game voting, Connor McDavid is leading the Pacific Division. The youngest captain in NHL history may also become the youngest All-Star captain to ever suit up.
McDavid is one of four plays leading their respective division for captaincy votes. He joins the ranks of Patrick Kane, Carey Price and Sidney Crosby.

The 19-year-old is leading the NHL with 34 points this season and has been helping the Oilers to better standings so far this year. With him leading the league in assists and being one of the NHL’s top players, McDavid’s leading votes are obvious.
Overall, this is great news for the Oilers. Having a player of this calibre on the team is great for their prominence in the NHL. This isn’t the same Oilers team from the past; finally, opponents take them seriously. As said before, teams are now more afraid to take on Edmonton.
McDavid will serve as the Pacific Division Captain for the 2017 NHL All-Star game if he wins. In addition, McDavid missed the All-Star game last year due to injury. This would be his chance to show the NHL how he stacks up with the rest of the league’s elite.
We can only imagine the breakaway challenges and shootouts now. Not to mention, he would be great on a unit with players like Joe Pavelski or even Johnny Gaudreau.
The All-Star game takes place in January 2017, and hopefully, number 97 will have a “C” on his All-Star jersey.
