Edmonton Oilers: Leon Draisaitl Getting Groove Back
Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl has had ups and downs so far this year, but it appears he has broken out of his slump.
The German centre is riding a four-game point streak, in which he has six points over that span. Draisaitl now has six goals and 14 points on the season, and is an asset to the Oilers offensive corps.

After a hot start to the season, Draisaitl fell into a drought, going seven games without registering a single point. With Ryan Nugent-Hopkins slotting in as the second-line centre, Draisaitl became the third-line centre.
Though the 21-year-old isn’t a centre first, he has thrived in the position, posting over 51 percent success in the dot. With him filling out the bottom-six, the Oilers can have confidence in their entire lineup.
Despite going through periods of droughts and speaks, Draisaitl seems to be finding momentum. On a line with Milan Lucic and Zack Kassian, Draisiatl has two capable wingers who can put up points and drive to the net. And with Draisaitl’s playmaking ability and offensive drive, they can get a lot of pucks on net and crash the crease.
Not to mention, with Drake Caggiula re-entering the lineup, he could take over as the third line centre, allowing Draisaitl to play on the wing in the top-six.

Power-Play Poise
Four of Draisaitl’s goals this season have come off the power-play, and he has been the biggest catalyst on the man advantage so far. The 6-foot-1, 214-pound forward can sneak into places and release a wicked shot, and also knows how to capitalize on rebounds and loose pucks.
Connor McDavid knows how to start the play, and knows how to find players and make the right passes. Draisaitl seems to know how to create chemistry with him, and this makes for more success on the Oilers’ power-play.
With Draisaitl growing strong and being a presence on the man advantage, he can also be a part of the hero line. In addition, he can be a threat and an asset to have on the ice at critical moments.
Draisaitl will be a core player for years to come, and this is a great sign for Edmonton. With him getting his groove back, they can have depth and confidence in their roster.
