Enjoy the most awkward ceremonial puck drop in hockey history

It appears that China's new KHL team is still working out the kinks when it comes to the sport's pregame traditions.

The Kunlun Red Star hockey club invited a fancy, seemingly important man in a suit to perform the ceremonial puck drop prior to a game this week. It did not go as smoothly as they had planned and the result was one of the most awkward pregame face-offs you'll ever see.

In fact, it's too awkward and uncomfortable to describe, so just go ahead and watch it yourself.

In all fairness, China isn't exactly a hockey hotbed, so there's a good chance this guy had never seen a ceremonial face-off in his life. Also, the Red Star currently sit third-to-last in the KHL this season, so it appears that their players don't exactly know hockey that well either.

On the bright side, there's plenty of time left to learn. Or maybe they could just make this ritual their thing. After all, it's way funnier.

Regardless, they should invest in a longer red carpet for these occasions. Somebody could slip out there.
