Flyers shuffle struggling Voracek to left wing

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek hopes a change of scenery will end his scoring troubles.

No, Voracek isn't requesting a trade just months after signing an eight-year, $66 million contract extension in the summer. Instead, the 26-year-old told CSN Philly that he is keeping his options open - on the ice - after being shuffled to left wing on a line with Wayne Simmonds and Sean Couturier during Sunday's practice.

Not much has worked in the goal-scoring department for Voracek, who has a whopping total of one this season. His lone tally came in overtime on Nov. 14 to lift the Flyers to a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes - the same team Philadelphia faces on Tuesday.

Voracek, who also has set up 15 goals, is far off the pace of last season's totals. He recorded career bests in assists (59) and points (81).

The seventh overall pick of the 2007 draft, Voracek has scored 125 goals and set up 263 others in 561 career contests with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Flyers.

"I've never played left (wing) to be honest. It's a new thing, hopefully it's going to work."
