Flyers' Simmonds embraces team's new rallying cry: 'No panic'
The Philadelphia Flyers have turned their fortunes around over the last few weeks, and they owe their recent success to two simple words.
No, not the potty-mouth phrases that occasionally can be heard when things aren't going well in the City of Brotherly Love. Rather, forward Wayne Simmonds told reporters of the simple - yet calming - response his team uses as a rallying cry after he scored twice to help the Flyers overcome a three-goal deficit to post a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Monday.
Via Courier Post:
Defenseman Evgeny Medvedev scored his first career game-winning goal with 3:13 remaining in the third period for Philadelphia (15-12-7), which overcame a three-goal deficit to win for the first time since Dec. 19, 2013.
The Flyers enter the Christmas break on a blistering 8-2-2 run to reside in a tie for fourth place with the New Jersey Devils in the Metropolitan Division. Coach Dave Hakstol's charges return to action on Sunday when they open a three-game road trip against the Anaheim Ducks.
"No panic. We’ve been saying it for a long time now. No panic. Try not to let it get on us. We can’t keep our heads down when we go down goals. ... It's only a matter of putting the work boots on and getting back to work."
