For second consecutive season, injury bug bites Paul Stastny early
Paul Stastny was off to a nice start to the season, notching a goal and four assists through five games, but an old foe struck Stastny down Friday when he was injured blocking a shot in the Blues' 4-3 win over Vancouver.
Stastny went to the room after suffering the injury in the second period, but came back out for the start of the third to test how he felt. That experiment did not end well, as Stastny came back off the ice and missed the remainder of the game. He returned to St. Louis after the game and will miss the remainder of the Blues' road trip, which ends Tuesday with a game in Montreal.
The timing of this latest injury is eerily similar to last season, when Stastny suffered a shoulder injury in a game on Oct. 18 and subsequently missed eight games of action.
Stastny is the third St. Louis player to go down with an injury on the road trip, as defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk and forward Robby Fabbri also went down with injuries recently.
