Former Penguins Lapierre, Goc to play in Europe
Two former Pittsburgh Penguins have elected to continue their professional careers overseas.
Fellow forwards Maxim Lapierre and Marcel Goc split last season with the Penguins and St. Louis Blues, with the veterans being traded for one another on Jan. 27.
Lapierre inked a one-year contract on Tuesday with Modo of the Swedish Elite League, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports. The 30-year-old Quebec native recorded two goals and nine assists in 80 contests last season with Pittsburgh and St. Louis and 139 points (65 goals, 74 assists) in 614 career contests with the Montreal Canadiens, Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks, Penguins and Blues.

Goc signed a five-year deal with German League club Adler Mannheim on Tuesday. The 32-year-old German scored three goals and set up six others in 74 games with Pittsburgh and St. Louis last season and collected 75 goals and 113 assists in 636 career contests with the San Jose Sharks, Nashville Predators, Florida Panthers, Penguins and Blues.
