Hurricanes' Nash to miss 10-14 days with shoulder injury
The season is under one week old and the Carolina Hurricanes already have been bitten pretty hard by the injury bug.
Forward Riley Nash is expected to miss 10-14 days with a shoulder injury, the team announced on Monday. The 26-year-old Alberta native suffered the injury after logging just five shifts in Carolina's 4-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
"Ten to 14 days is what we're told. So, hopefully shorter, but no more than 14 would be good," coach Bill Peters told reporters on Monday.
Nash, who did not record a point in either game this season, collected eight goals and 17 assists in 68 contests in 2014-15.
The news comes on the heels of the Hurricanes losing veteran defenseman James Wisniewski to a torn ACL in the team's 2-1 season-opening setback to the Nashville Predators. The 31-year-old suffered the injury on his second shift and is expected to miss six months.
Carolina (0-2-0) looks to get into the win column when it hosts the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
