Islanders Drop Fourth In A Row Another Quiet Third Period
The New York Islanders lost their fourth in a row this time waiting until overtime to fall. The Sabres won by a final of 3-2.
Well, should’ve seen that one coming. The New York Islanders lost, again, after once again becoming dormant at the start of the third period. Here are the highlights.
The Isles would get on the board first from Ryan Strome who all of a sudden is on a “hot streak”.

After not scoring since pre-Halloween Strome now has two goals in the last two games. We can only hope that he’s figured something out.
Johan Larsson would get the next goal 2:32 into the second to get the Sabres right back in the game. The surprising thing from this one is what happened next.

The Islanders actually scored on a power play. In all seriousness Alan Quine played a very good game. He had this goal and a nice defensive play where he dove and knocked the puck out of the zone.

Surprise, a former Islander scored against the Islanders. Matt Moulson tied this puppy up 3:19 into the third period. The score would remain the same through the remainder of the period with the ice heavily leaning in the Sabres favor.
Rasmus Ristolainen would end this one just 42 seconds into overtime. Another loss in which the Islanders no showed the third period.
The Islanders were held off the score sheet for the final 34 minutes of the game (including the OT period. They’ve lost each of their last four games, games in which they’ve led or been tied heading into the third period.
Over that time they’ve been outscored 9-0 in the third period and OT. That says everything you need to know.
